Ship 410 performed amazingly well at Minto Rendezvous this weekend! As a result of their training and practice over the last year, they placed ahead of over 80% of the other more established Sea Scout Ships from around the State in several events. This is a remarkable achievement for a first year Sea Scout Ship!

And let's not forget the really solid showing in the Flotsam Flotilla! I am still astonished that the boat the Scouts made out of cardboard not only floated but was competitive!!! We received a plaque that will be given to Dr. Munoz at the next meeting for display for the next week at his clinic for his role in helping to plan this event and donating the use of his clinic for the Scouts to construct the SSS Cardboard. After that, the plaque will be moved to the Scout trophy case at HPBC for display.

Another thing that happened at Minto is the Scouts became better aware of more opportunities available to them such as crewing in the 150 mile Harvest Moon Regatta, crewing the Point Glass USCG Cutter in the Gulf, and flight lessons in a sea plane. All of these opportunities require a minimum rank and as a result several Scouts expressed a renewed interest in rank advancement.
